How these numbers are produced

Which figures are computed, and which are interpolated

Computed from published 2026 legislation at any salary: Netherlands standard and 30% ruling (Box 1 brackets plus the 2026 tax credits), Spain under the Beckham Law (flat 24%, 2026 social security), Portugal standard and IFICI (IRS brackets, 11% social security, solidarity surcharge), Belgium standard and impatriate (2026 brackets, 13.07% social security, 7% average municipal surcharge, the 35% allowance mechanic), Denmark standard and Forskerordningen (labour market contribution, the 2026 mellemskat and topskat split, all three allowances), Germany (the section 32a formula read from the statute, plus capped social insurance and the solidarity surcharge), Finland on the key employee scheme (flat 25% plus pension and unemployment contributions), Sweden standard and expertskatt.

Ireland and the United Kingdom are computed too, from the 2026 Irish bands, credits, USC and PRSI at the current 4.35%, and the 2026/27 UK rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the personal allowance taper above £100,000.

Interpolated between three researched anchor points at €70,000, €90,000 and €110,000, because the underlying research used a third party calculator or published tables rather than raw legislation: Spanish standard tax and Finnish standard tax. Outside that range these two are extrapolated, so treat them as directional at the extremes.

Rates and thresholds were rechecked against official 2026 sources on 6 October 2026, and the visa, filing deadline and eligibility notes on 7 October 2026. The 2027 Dutch view uses the announced 27% rate and salary floor on 2026 tax bands.

Assumptions, and what this does not model

Single person, no children, no other deductions, full cash base salary, 2026 rates. No church tax in Finland, Denmark or Germany. Danish and Swedish figures use the national average municipal rate. Spanish standard figures are for Aragon, where the largest projects are, and Madrid runs roughly €700 to €1,400 a year better at this level.

It does not model your home country tax position, double taxation treaty mechanics, remaining tax resident where you are now, pension arrangements, relocation packages or housing allowances. It is not payroll advice and it is not a payslip. Before you commit to a move, have the numbers for your own contract checked by a payroll professional in the destination country.

Two schemes, in Finland and Sweden, turn on an expertise test that is undefined in law, with no published precedent in construction either way. Portugal turns on profession and on employer activity. Where this tool says conditional, it means conditional.
